Purpose
The ATX Open and Austin 125 are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants, including players, staff, volunteers, and spectators. This policy establishes standards of conduct for volunteers, outlines screening and attestation requirements, and references our protocols for reporting and addressing allegations of sexual abuse or misconduct.
Scope
This policy applies to all individuals serving in a volunteer capacity at the ATX Open or Austin 125.
1. Standards of Conduct
All volunteers are expected to:
- Treat participants, staff, fellow volunteers, and attendees with respect at all times.
- Comply with the ATX Open and Austin 125 Code of Conduct and all applicable tournament policies.
- Support a safe environment by reporting concerns promptly through established channels.
- Avoid any behavior that could reasonably be interpreted as harassment, abuse, or misconduct.
2. Screening and Attestation
To help protect the integrity and safety of the ATX Open and Austin 125 community, all volunteers are required to confirm the following as a condition of service:
- They have not been convicted of a felony offense.
- They have not been convicted of any crime involving sexual misconduct, child abuse, or harm to a minor.
- They acknowledge and agree to abide by the ATX Open and Austin 125’s Sexual Abuse Allegation Handling Policy.
Volunteers will complete a written acknowledgement form prior to the start of their service. This information will be maintained in confidence and used solely for compliance and safety purposes.
3. Reporting Allegations of Sexual Abuse or Misconduct
In alignment with the Sexual Abuse Allegation Handling Policy, all volunteers must immediately report any suspected or witnessed incidents of sexual abuse or misconduct.
Reports should be directed to:
- Tournament Director – Christo van Rensburg (Christo@DropShotSeries.com)
- Chief Operating Officer – Kim Friesz (Kim@DropShotSeries.com)
All reports will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, with details shared only with individuals directly involved in the investigation or resolution.
4. Response to Allegations
- Upon receiving a report, an initial assessment will be conducted to determine appropriate next steps, including whether law enforcement should be notified.
- An Investigation Committee may be convened to ensure a fair and impartial process.
- Protective measures (such as temporary suspension of duties) may be taken to safeguard participants during the investigation.
- Confirmed violations will result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from volunteer service and referral to law enforcement where applicable.
5. Commitment to Safety
The ATX Open and Austin 125 will provide ongoing training and resources to volunteers to reinforce safety, reporting procedures, and expectations of conduct. Our collective responsibility is to ensure that the tournament remains a safe and welcoming event for all.
